Stack Overflow & Indeed launch job platform for developers
Thu, 9th May 2024

Stack Overflow and Indeed have advanced their successful partnership in announcing the next step in providing for the career development needs of the world's most active developers and technologists.

They aim to aid job seekers at all stages in their career by connecting them with suitable opportunities that match their skills. To support this initiative, the companies have announced the launch of Stack Overflow Jobs, a platform powered by Indeed, serving as a specialised job site for developers where employers can post open roles.

A joint venture, Stack Overflow Jobs aims to alleviate the struggles faced by developers around the globe, who are reported to be more open to new job opportunities than they were in the last two years. This information comes from the results of the Stack Overflow Knows Job Report in October of 2023. The report surveyed over 1,000 developers, 79% of whom are either considering or looking for new job opportunities. The partnership of Stack Overflow and Indeed is geared towards helping these developers find suitable jobs and grow their careers across various industries.

The anouncement stated: "More developers are looking for or are open to a new job now compared to the last two years. Generative AI will democratize coding and grow the developer community by several folds. If there are 20-25 million developers now, this could lead to a 10x growth of this important group."

Similarly, the launched site of Stack Overflow Jobs will provide thousands of job openings to job seekers, conveniently consolidating highly relevant employment opportunities. Currently, the job site is available in the U.S. with potential expansion into additional markets in the future.

Apart from this, employers will benefit from the Indeed Tech Network, part of Indeed's first Specialist Media Network. This feature propagates job ads and employer brand ads across over 50 technology-specific sites including WIRED, VentureBeat, and more. This network has already shown results as employers have seen a 4.1-fold increase in relevant applications from skilled candidates.

Stack Overflow CEO, Prashanth Chandrasekar, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Our mission has always been to empower the world to develop technology through collective knowledge. We are excited to bring together the world's largest and most trusted community for developers and technologists and Indeed’s global hiring platform."

Indeed's VP of Product, Iain Hamilton, also conveyed his support for the initiative, stating, “Indeed is dedicated to helping people find jobs. Expanding our work with Stack Overflow is integral to helping both job seekers find their next role and companies find and hire the world’s most technically talented employees.”

The actualisation of Stack Overflow Jobs signals a significant step towards providing developers and technologists with the tools needed to navigate their job search more efficiently, while aiding companies in finding top tech talent.
