Former Australian Test cricketer and commentator Michael Slater is being held in custody after his arrest on eight charges including assault and one count of breaching bail.
The 54-year-old has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, unlawful stalking, entering a dwelling by break at night and four counts of common assault.
Slater's matter was briefly heard on Monday in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Slater is expected to make an application for bail on Tuesday.
He did not appear and no plea was entered.
Duty lawyer Michael Robinson told the court enquiries would be made about a rehabilitation facility.
Slater has been remanded in custody and the matter has been adjourned until Tuesday, when a bail application is expected to be made.
The former batsman played in 74 Test matches and 42 one-day internationals for Australia, making his Test debut in 1993.
