Alexandra Palace: Working to restore a north London icon

Alexandra Palace is being given a birthday repair job for its 150th anniversary.

The Grade II listed site between Wood Green and Muswell Hill in north London has received £550,000 from Historic England to start work on restoring its derelict old offices, which the Palace team says is the last inaccessible area of the seven-acre site.

Affectionately known as 'Ally Pally', the building first opened in 1875 and has a long and rich history, hosting sporting events, ice skating, exhibitions and was even home to the BBC in the early days of television.
