An 18-year-old Hokitika man has been arrested in relation to the sale and supply of MDMA following police searches.
He is due to appear in Greymouth District Court next week.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kirsten Norton said the police were aware of a lot of recent concern about the possible presence of MDMA or other illicit drugs in the area.
She said she hoped the arrest provided some reassurance to the community before heading into the summer months of events and festivals.
Norton said the police strongly recommend people took extreme care as what they thought they may be taking could be an entirely different substance.
