Rotorua school lockdown lifted after reported firearms incident

One person has been arrested after a reported firearms incident in Rotorua this morning.

Western Heights Primary school put itself in lockdown after neighbours warned it there were sounds like 'fireworks' going off nearby.

It lifted the lockdown just before midday.

A police spokesperson said they attended at a Western Heights address after reports of an altercation between a group of people about 10.30am.

Cordons remain in place at Roger Street.
