World leaders converge on PNG capital for summit

Leaders from Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation group countries have begun arriving in Papua New Guinea forn their annual summit.

China's President Xi Jinping was among the first to arrive in Port Moresby last night, and has met with PNG's parliamentarians this morning.

The President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, arrived this morning.

A number of leaders are travelling from Singapore where the ASEAN summit was held this week.

Meanwhile, the APEC Chief Executive Officers summit was held yesterday in Moresby.

PNG's prime minister Peter O'Neill announced that an agreement had been signed with French company Total regarding a planned second major LNG gas project in the country.
