Alem Tesema was shot in the shoulder on Saturday night by a passenger in an unprovoked attack.

The teenager appeared in the Wellington District Court yesterday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Her arrest follows that of a 26-year-old man in the suburb of Strathmore overnight on Tuesday.

The police said now that the case was before the court, no further comment could be made.

Mr Tesema is currently recovering at home with a broken shoulder.
