Labour Party deputy Kelvin Davis is well ahead in Te Tai Tokerau, making it unlikely Mana's Hone Harawira will have a place in Parliament.
This week Harawira called landline phone polls that revealed Davis as the preferred
candidate as "rubbish".
But the poll that placed Davis as preferred candidate at 67 per cent and Harawira trailing on 30.3 per cent could prove accurate.
Harawira took a hit at the last election after entering into a coalition with Kim Dotcom and the Internet Party, losing his spot in Parliament.
Earlier this year Harawira acknowledge the damage the relationship had done and told the Herald in hindsight it was a mistake.
Harawira lost Te Tai Tokerau to Davis in 2014, but wanted his old seat back.
He urged voters to give him their electorate vote, knowing Davis will get into Parliament anyway as number two on Labour's list.
"It's an opportunity to ensure that we don't just have two Tai Tokerau MPs in the House, but two Tai Tokerau MPs on the front bench," he said earlier.
