Two men attacked a Hamilton shopkeeper with tomahawks before the victim's parents chased them away.
Two offenders entered Aberdeen Superette on the corner of Aberdeen Drive and Courtney Ave about 6pm on June 25.
They brandished the tomahawks at the shopkeeper and demanded cigarettes.
Detective Sergeant Nicola Cornes said the victim grabbed a tomahawk from one of the offenders in an attempt to defend himself.
The victim received a minor cut to his hand in the struggle and was treated by ambulance staff.
The offenders fled empty-handed after being chased by the victim's parents.
Cornes said police needed community help to identify the offenders.
"Aberdeen Superette provides a service to the community and this type of threatening behaviour is not something the community should tolerate."
Anyone who recognises the individuals in the images, or saw anything suspicious near the superette on Sunday, is asked to contact Hamilton Police Station on (07) 858 6200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
