Bay of Plentys number one amateur Alanna Campbell has equalled a course record to complete a clinical come from behind victory at the Carrus Open hosted by the Tauranga Golf Club.
In front of friends and family from all over the region, Campbell made eight birdies on her way to a record-equalling round of six under (66) to record her third Jennian Homes Charles Tour title.
"I feels great, I set myself the goal of shooting six-under at the start of the day so I went and got that done which is nice," said an emotional Campbell.
"I think it will sink in eventually, but it all just kind of happened and it was my day today, I was due to drop a few putts."
Campbell has been a great servant to the New Zealand Golf circuit and she now moves on to a new adventure where she will take up a golfing scholarship at Iowa State College. It was clear this event meant a lot to her and she will be missed.
"It was awesome to have the family out here this week and the people from Omanu Golf Club, its turned out to be the perfect week. Im gutted this will be my last event in some time because I have loved every one of them."
Rounding out the top three was Aucklands Brittney Dryland and Carmen Lim who couldnt quite get things going on yet another perfect day in Tauranga.
Jennian Homes have done a great deed this afternoon by offering the mens players who have played in every tournament a bonus and Chantelle Cassidys efforts this season havent gone unnoticed as she was also recognised for her support and perseverance on the Jennian Homes Charles Tour. Cassidy was rewarded with a $1500 bonus to go to her amateur trust fund after finishing top of the womens season-long points race.
