Police are searching for a man who grabbed a teenage boy and pulled him into his car on Auckland's North Shore yesterday morning.

The police said the man was in his 60s, with a dragon tattoo on his face.

Detective Senior Sergeant James Bothamley said the 14-year-old was walking along Lancaster Road in Beachhaven about 8am yesterday when he was grabbed.

After being forced into the man's car, he was able to fight him off and run away.

The boy was thought to have suffered several seizures during the attack.

Police wanted to talk to anyone who saw a teenage boy in uniform walking along the road and looking unwell, and who might have stopped to help.

The boy has described the distinctive tattoo as a dragon, with the dragon's mouth over the man's mouth, and the body of the dragon going from from his left ear, across his check, to his mouth.

Police have asked tattooists who might have recently dealt with a man with a tattoo of that description to get in touch.
