Police have arrested a 43-year-old local man and have charged him with two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The male will make his initial appearance in the Tauranga District Court June 29.
The arrest follows the investigation of a domestic related incident which occurred overnight on June 27 and 28.
The assault occurred at a residential address in Bethlehem, Tauranga with one victim receiving a superficial stab wound to the abdomen and the other receiving a superficial stab wound to an elbow.
Both victims, adults, were treated at Tauranga Hospital prior to being discharged.
The Police Armed Offender Squad was utilised during the incident.
The male who was arrested has also been charged with presenting a firearm at one of the Armed Offender Squad members as well as unlawful possession of a .22 calibre rifle.
Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury said a scene examination would be completed during Sunday morning and that a number of witnesses were yet to be spoken to.
