Sport: Kumuls contingent back for PNG Hunters

Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league coach Michael Marum is glad his players have returned unscathed from the Kumuls test match against Fiji at the weekend.

Captain Israel Eliab, Thompson Teteh, Noel Zeming, Kato Ottio, Willie Minoga, Brandy Peter, Adam Korave and Wartovo Puara featured in the 22-10 defeat to the Bati on the Gold Coast, while Lawrence Tu'u was also part of the PNG squad but did not play.

All nine have been named in the Hunters extended squad to face defending Queensland Cup premiers the Northern Pride in Kokopo this Sunday.

The Pride beat the Sunshine Coast Falcons at the weekend in a "catch up" game, after their original clash was postponed due to the Cyclone in the Far North Queensland early in the year.

The Hunters came back from a 20 point deficit with half an hour remaining to beat Burleigh 38-32 in their last match a fortnight ago.
