Sport: Nine debutants named for PNG Hunters season opener

The Papua New Guinea Hunters have named nine debutants in their 18 man squad to take on the South's Logan Magpies in Brisbane in Sunday's Queensland Cup rugby league season opener.

The new faces take their place after strong performances in the trial victory against the Northern Pride on Friday.

The debutants include Kumuls World Cup players Enock Maki and Ase Boas, and captain of the Commonwealth Nines winning PNG Under 19 team, Warren Glare.

Lawrence Tu'u is suspended and will miss the first six weeks of competition after being cited for a Grade 3 dangerous throw against the Pride.

Sebastian Pandia, Adex Wera, Noel Zeming and Timothy Lomai were all unavailable with injury.
