Fiji and Samoa will square off on Wednesday for a chance to earn promotion World Cricket League 6.
Both countries have been in the international wilderness since Divisions 7 and 8 were disbanded, with Fiji missing out on promotion to Division 6 early last year.
Along with Japan and the Philippines, the two Pacific nations qualified for the chance to return to the 50-over leagues, based on their performance at the East Asia Pacific T20 Championship last week.
In the first semi final Fiji cruised past Japan's 103 all out with 31 overs and nine wickets to spare, while Samoa made 247 before dismissing the Philippines for just 101.
Samoa coach Anthony Bowler is hoping the weather gods come to the party with thunderstorms, gale winds and heavy rain in Lismore raising doubts the game will go ahead.
Bowler remains hopeful and says his team has prepared well.
"We've been building towards this I guess for three months now and this was always our goal to get into Div 6. It is one shot, one opportunity and today is D-Day. I'm feeling confident - we played well yesterday against the Philippines and [there is] a few more small things just to get right but I reckon we're almost at 100 percent which hopefully today it all comes off".
Fiji will advance to Cricket League 6 if the game cannot be completed, having finished higher in the Twenty20 competition.
