Sport: PNG Hunters return for pre-season training

10:53 am on 22 November 2014

The Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league team begin preparations for the 2015 season today with the start of a four-week training camp in Kokopo.

The Hunters finished a credible sixth in their debut campaign in the Queensland Cup, ending one competition point shy of a spot in the playoffs.

Next year's competition kicks off on the seventh of March with an expanded 14-teams and six playoff spots.

The majority of the Hunters' squad from the inaugural season has been retained and head coach Michael Marum says the team is fairly settled and now know what to expect with a full campaign under their belt.

30 players will begin the four-week camp with Marum to trim down the numbers before Christmas.
