Police are making a fresh appeal for information a week after a man was murdered in Edinburgh.

Robbie Morrison, 31, was attacked in Dumbryden Gardens in Wester Hailes at about 16:30 on 22 August.

Officers are carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area and will speak to local residents in an attempt to identify Mr Morrison's killer.

Det Ch Insp Gary Cunningham said: "It is clear from our inquiries that the community holds vital information."

He added: "A week has passed now since this horrific attack on Mr Morrison, and while our officers are making progress with the investigation, we would urge anyone with any information to come forward.

"We will be asking members of the public if they saw anything suspicious or if they saw individuals in Dumbryden Gardens last Friday afternoon.

"We will also ask if they have heard something which may prove key to our investigation."

Witnesses can provide information in confidence by calling 01506 445 620 or text 07769 239 691.

Ch Insp Mark Rennie said inquiries continued to suggest Mr Morrison's murder was an isolated incident.

He added: "Our officers are doing everything they can to trace the person who carried out this murder and we will continue to carry out patrols in the area."
