A man has been arrested in Taupo and charged with three aggravated robberies of service stations and 14 burglaries.
Taupo police carried out a search warrant at a local residence on Monday resulting in the arrest of a 38-year-old man.
He has been charged with a total of 14 burglaries and three aggravated robberies dating back to October last year. The aggravated robberies were all on service stations; two in Taupo and one in Napier.
After a first appearance in court today he was remanded in custody. Several items of stolen property were recovered and police are now working to contact all of the victims involved and return recovered property to its rightful owner.
Police have reminded people to remain vigilant and ensure properties are kept secure at all times, even if they are home.
There were a number of security measures available at reasonable prices to assist home owners in having windows open for fresh air while still making them inaccessible to criminals, police said.
