Guns N' Roses' most recent album was released in 1993

A man accused of illegally streaming unreleased Guns N' Roses songs on his website has been bailed after a court appearance in Los Angeles.

Kevin Cogill, 27, was arrested on suspicion of violating copyright laws after allegedly putting nine tracks online in June.

Prosecutors said the leaks could lead to "significant" financial loss for the rock band.

Mr Cogill is due to appear in court again on 17 September.

Delays

No restrictions on his internet use were imposed during the court hearing, which resulted in his release on bail of $10,000 (£5,450).

According to arrest papers, Mr Cogill admitted to having posted the songs, which were later removed from his website Antiquiet following intervention from the band.

Larry Solters, a spokesman for Guns N' Roses, said the band "had been made aware of the arrest and are leaving the matter to the authorities".

The songs were thought to come from the band's unreleased album Chinese Democracy, which has taken a decade to make and faced various delays.

One of the new tracks will be heard legally from next month when it appears on the soundtrack to video game Rock Band 2.

A release date for Chinese Democracy has yet to be announced.
