Paintings by revered artist Charles Goldie under the hammer in Auckland
Two paintings by celebrated artist Charles Frederick Goldie are coming up for auction in Auckland. The works, Portrait Of Te Hei and A Hot Day are expected to attract about a million dollars between them. The oil-on-canvas works are part of a larger contemporary art auction taking place in Parnell, on April 11.  The Portrait Of Te Hei, or Pai Te Kai Paipa, was painted in 1941 and depicts a "lively" Maori chieftainess smoking a pipe.
